A contemporary-style house, fabulous views of the Dolomites, a delightful little village in Alto Adige a stone’s throw from the famous Lake Carezza: this is the setting. The aim of the project: to bring new life and functionality to the terrace of the villa, which was previously floored with wooden planks worn by time and weather.
The client has very clear ideas and wants a material that’s hardwearing and can withstand the abundant snow which is a feature of winter here at 1200 metres above sea level (it’s normal to have up to 2 metres of snow on the terrace for long periods); a material that’s aesthetically pleasing and warm, where the children can play barefoot in summer. BHC suggests composite slats made of Disegna “Wood Plastic Composite”, an innovative material which has changed the way of looking at outdoor spaces.
The slats are double-sided, smooth and grooved, and in this case the client chooses to place the grooved side uppermost. The colour chosen is an extremely warm neutral shade. The laying technique uses a male-female joint system and stainless steel fixings, ensuring correct and stable positioning with no visible screws. One further request from the client: the ability to inspect and clean the underlying surface once a year.
To fulfil this requirement, the BHC team suggests laying the floor in sections, segments which when necessary can be lifted, moved and replaced without difficulty.
“The result is exactly what we wanted”, the client commented; “the work was very quick and simple – our terrace was finished in one day. Now at last we can enjoy the sunset with a drink on the terrace, and the children have a space they can make their own, a comfortable and safe place for playing outdoors!”
Disegna solutions are available in BHC showrooms, where a wide range of colours can be seen.
The BHC team can evaluate every project and select the most appropriate solution, considering every detail in order to meet clients’ specific needs.
