A medium-sized space, badly laid out, in a building right in the centre of Milan. Access to the upper level is so inconvenient that it makes it difficult to reach the large terrace which overlooks the city on three sides. These are some of the reasons why the clients want drastic changes made to their home.
The aim is to create a simple, functional layout, particularly safe and user-friendly for the youngest members of the family. Oak floors, white walls and the occasional touch of grey give the apartment a tangible feeling of calm, a high priority for the clients.
Like a diaphragm, an iron bookcase redefines the entrance space and constantly draws the inhabitants’ attention.
The wooden flooring creates a common thread between the various rooms as far as the bathroom, where it meets a glass wall and stops, outlining the toilet and shower area which feature darker textures to give the space a more private character.
